The Mission to Seafarers, India is a dedicated welfare organization committed to supporting seafarers across major ports in India, including Mumbai, Tuticorin, and Kolkata. We are part of a global network focused on improving the well-being, dignity, and rights of seafarers who spend long periods away from home.

Our mission is to provide emotional, practical, and spiritual support to seafarers, ensuring they feel valued, connected, and cared for during their time at sea and in port.

The Mission to Seafarers began providing welfare services to seafarers at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Association, Nhava Sheva, Maharashtra, India, through the services of its Chaplain, Revd. Nitin Dethe since July 2014. Mumbai is the main hub of maritime activity in India, with most shipping companies having their offices in the city. This provides Revd. Nitin Dethe with the opportunity to provide advocacy support to seafarers in connecting with the companies and highlighting their issues.

Tuticorin Seafarers’ Centre

TUTICORIN, Tamilnadu, India.

The ship visiting in Tuticorin started in 1992 and the centre was established in 1995. Ever since then, it has been seeking the welfare of the multinational seafarers calling at VOC Port in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.

Regular ship visit is being done with the help of the Port authorities who provide the Port Entry Pass for all our staff.

The centre functions from 10 am to 22 pm engaging seafarers with the free Wi-Fi facilities and indoor games such as Table Tennis, Billiards, Caram Board and small gym also. The seafarers are allowed to play in the outdoor – tennikoit, badminton, and volley ball.
