The centre has officially launched a new project – Tuticorin Family Support Network (TFSN) in 2022. This project has identified 17 coastal villages covering 120 kilometres from Tuticorin to Idinthakarai. These villages are flooded with fishermen and seafarers.
Considered that seafarers’ family – wives and children need special attention, this project focuses on seeking the welfare of them. The project conducts three study centres in three different villages where 140 students – boys and girls from the Std 1 to 12 are benefited.
We celebrate Women’s Day emphasizing women empowerment. The project runs a sewing centre for women where 4 women are trained in every 6 months.
The Office bearers of the local Seafarers’ Welfare Associations from the villages are gathering twice a year in our Centre to share their activities with one another and plan the development and welfare of the families.
The project also supports the seafarers, their wives and children when they are in emergency medical needs through the Seafarers’ Emergency Fund from ISWAN (International Seafarers Welfare and Assistance Network).
International Seafarers’ Day is celebrated with their families on 25th June every year. Special addresses are given in the areas of wellbeing of child care and finance.
This project hosts awareness programme for the young seafarers to be aware of their rights through IHRB (International Human Rights and Business) work shop every year.
